Professional Bowling Comes to Evansville

On August 6th, 2004, many of the best bowling athletes in the country will descend upon AMF Arc Lanes in Evansville for the PBA Wild Turkey Bourbon Central/Midwest Regions Bowlers Aid Pro Shops Open.

Evansville, IN (PRWEB) February 3, 2004 --On August 6th, 2004, many of the best bowling athletes in the country will descend upon AMF Arc Lanes in Evansville for the PBA Wild Turkey Bourbon Central/Midwest Regions Bowlers Aid Pro Shops Open.

The weekend event will feature 3 days of competition. Festivities on Friday, August 6th begin with a PBA Practice Session on the challenging tournament lane conditions, followed by Pro-Am bowling for fans of all ages and skill levels. The qualifying rounds are held on Saturday, August 7th, with bracket style match play competition on Sunday, August 8th.

Bowlers Aid Pro Shops, LLC, has signed on as Title Sponsor through 2006, and efforts are currently underway to secure other tournament sponsors. I have been so impressed with the dedication of many Evansville area bowlers to bring this event to the area," said Deborah Galloway, Co-Owner of Bowlers Aid and company representative to the Tournament Committee. Maintaining the current level of excitement and fostering city-wide cooperation will be key building blocks for annual tournament success." Other committee members include Brian K. Nunning, President of the Evansville Bowling Association and District 8 Director of the Indiana Bowling Association, Randy L. Robertson, EBA Vice President and PBA Member, and Kevin D. Gibson, EBA Director and Evansville area attorney.

The PBA was established in 1958 when 33 charter members banded together to form the Professional Bowlers Association. Today, with over 4,000 members, it remains the acknowledged major league" of bowling in the world. In March 2000, a trio of high-tech entrepreneurs (and former Microsoft executives) purchased the league in hopes of making it the next global emerging sport and creating additional opportunities for its members. Successes to date include a weekly broadcast of National Tour Stops on ESPN2 with steadily increasing ratings (25% over 2 years), 14 National Sponsors, and an annual prize fund of over $5 million dollars at the national level.
