The Liberian Development Foundation(LDF), a 501© (3) non-profit tax-exempt organization whose mission is to assist in the creation and funding of socio-economic and human development programs in Liberia distributed numerous computers, books and other supplies to various educational institutions in the struggling nation.

The LDF donated twenty computers to the University of Liberia, the premier institution of higher learning in Liberia, which formerly had only three computers for the entire facility. According to the National Chronicle, University President Dr. Ben A. Roberts enthusiastically accepted the gifts and promised to use them wisely in his continuing mission of providing for the higher education needs of Liberian citizens. The mission to Liberia was a resounding success; Dr. Korto was able to view first hand the many needs and concerns of Liberia and is now in a position to direct and focus the resources raised and gathered by the foundation to those areas and people most in need.

Dr. Korto upon returning expressed a renewed enthusiasm and desire to continue and expand the mission of the LDF. The Foundation will now embark on a more aggressive campaign in 2004 to expand and build upon the successes of 2003. In addition to educational supplies and computers, the LDF will be gathering medical equipment for the many impoverished clinics and hospitals along with clothing and non-perishable food items for distribution to the people of Liberia. The LDF will also initiate and develop fresh water projects throughout the country in an effort to alleviate and ultimately eradicate the conditions that lead to cholera and other water-borne diseases. Working in partnership with numerous organizations the foundation looks forward to achieving its objective of raising the small nation founded by African-Americans to a position of prominence and prestige on the African Continent.
