29th Trenton Computer Festival Being Held on May 1-2

The oldest computer show in the world, the Trenton Computer Festival, will be held May 1st and 2nd in Edison, New Jersey at the New Jersey Convention Center.

Edison, NJ (PRWEB) February 13, 2004 -- The oldest PC show and sale in the world, now in its 29th year, is being held in Edison, New Jersey at the NJ Convention Center on May 1-2, 2004. The Festival includes indoor commercial exhibits, an outdoor computer & electronics flea market and over eighty speaker seminars on a wide range of computer related topics.

The Keynote address will be given Saturday at 2:30 PM. The speaker is Dr, Rebecca Mercuri. Dr. Mercuri became an overnight national celebrity in the center of a media frenzy when the U.S. Presidential election ended in a dead heat in November 2000. A few weeks earlier, she had successfully defended her Doctoral Dissertation "Electronic Vote Tabulation: Checks and Balances" at the University of Pennsylvania, and then found herself defending the Democratic Recount Committee in the now-legendary Bush v. Gore case working its way through the court system. Her testimony was presented to the U.S. 11th Circuit Court of Appeals and referenced in the briefs to the U.S. Supreme Court. Since then, she has provided formal testimony on voting systems to the House Science Committee, Federal Election Commission and the U.K. Cabinet, has been quoted in the U.S. Congressional Record, and has played a direct role in municipal, state, federal, and international legislative initiatives.

The media frequently cites Rebeccas comments on election technology, and she authors the quarterly "Security Watch" column in the Communications of the Association for Computing Machinery (archived at www.notablesoftware.com). She is currently at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, as a research fellow in their Belfer Center for Science and International Affairs. Dr. Mercuri is also a popular TCF lecturer and long-time attendee. This years Computer Festival will be held on Saturday and Sunday May 1-2, 2004 with show hours from ten to five on Saturday and ten to four on Sunday.

TCF is a not for profit event with proceeds supporting The College of New Jerseys Engineering Departments Scholarship Fund and computer related clubs and professional organizations in the tri-state area. Show admission is $15.00 and includes all seminars and activities for both days. There is free parking for over 5,000 cars.

The New Jersey Convention Center is located in the Raritan Center just minutes off the New Jersey Turnpike Exit #10, in Edison, New Jersey. For additional show information check the TCF web site at www.tcf-nj.org or call (800) 631-0062.
