The Salvation Army does so much for those in need that Carlisle Events wants to give something back. During the Carlisle All-Chrysler Nationals, July 9-11, Carlisle Events will hold an auction with all the proceeds benefiting The Salvation Army of Carlisle. You can help, too, either by donating something to be auctioned or by bidding on items at the auction on Saturday, July 10.
CARLISLE, PA (PRWEB) February 24, 2004 ---Vehicles, parts, collectibles, merchandise, services and more will be auctioned. The Salvation Army does so much for communities that Carlisle Events wants to give something back. During the Carlisle All-Chrysler Nationals, July 9-11, Carlisle Events will hold a charity auction with all the proceeds benefiting the local Salvation Army. You can help, too, either by donating something to be auctioned or by bidding on items at the auction on Saturday, July 10.
Some local businesses have already added their support to the cause. Local auto dealers Cumberland Valley Motors, Family Ford Mercury, Graham Motor Company and Rufe Chevrolet, all of Carlisle, have pledged to donate vehicles for the auction.
The Salvation Army is only thought of at Christmas, but it works 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and people have to know that it needs money all year round," said Bill Miller, co-owner of Carlisle Events. This will help give The Salvation Army an influx of needed funds in July, as well as in December.
Weve done this for the American Cancer Society for many years," he added, referring to the auction held at Corvettes at Carlisle. Carlisle Events has long been involved with The Salvation Army, as they do the Sunday worship service at most Carlisle shows. We ring the bells for the Army at all our shows. The Salvation Army does so much for local people; thats why we want everyone involved -- local people, businesses and the whole community, as well as the car hobby. We have found over the years that car show people are very giving."
The Salvation Army certainly appreciates the help it gets from the community. I am constantly amazed at the kindness of this community in supporting the work and ministry of The Salvation Army," said Major Colin Devault of the Carlisle Salvation Army. This auction, sponsored by Carlisle Events and supported by The Sentinel, is a real blessing. The members of our advisory board and our staff are anxious to see the success of this first auction."
The Sentinel has offered its assistance as Carlisles community newspaper. It just takes one person with a passion to help others. What Bill Miller is proposing for The Salvation Army is an incredible opportunity for the people of Carlisle as well as others to give to an organization that provides a great service to our community," said Sentinel Publisher P.J. Browning. The Sentinel is a local newspaper, focusing on local people. Were honored to be a part of this event."
We know were doing something really good" with the auction, Miller said. Its also an opportunity to buy some great items at good prices, with every penny going to the local Salvation Army."
Some examples of items that can be donated by individuals or businesses include new merchandise such as televisions or appliances; gift certificates for hotel stays, restaurants, vacations or products; new or used vehicles or bicycles; collectibles, memorabilia or other items. DaimlerChrysler products will probably bring the best prices at this auction, but non-Chrysler vehicles will be accepted as well. All vehicles should be in working condition.
Carlisle Events, host of 12 collector car, truck and motorcycle events a year, attracted more than half a million people to its events in 2003. Included in the annual schedule are two huge automotive swap meets and individual specialty shows featuring Corvettes, Fords, GMs, Chryslers, trucks, motorcycles, sport compacts and imports.
