The list is growing each day
The BWC will generate probing discussion and initiatives relating to writing, publishing, and the literature of people of African ancestry. The theme for this year's conference, Celebrating The Black Man: From Generation To Generation, will enable experts, advocates, and supporters of black literature to gather for a full range of literary/arts activities over a three day period. Panels, workshops, author readings, a poetry slam, storytelling, dramatic readings, and a book fair are just some of the features of the BWC. Key discussions will address issues such as the role of black men in modern literature, guerilla tactics to getting books on shelves, and the benefits of self-publishing. In addition, workshops on book proposal, fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction will be offered to participants.
This conference was established to increase the public's knowledge and appreciation for black (or African American) literature and the myriad of issues surrounding the publishing process. We are expected to accommodate more than 700 registrants from across the country.
