Artist reveals Self Creating Controversy

Professor Martin Fromm Art Installation stirs contoversy and debate in Missoula, Montana. Exhibited in the basement of A Hair Salon it generates a mecca like following and Interest.

Missoula, Montana (PRWEB) March 9, 2004 --University of Montana Photography Professor Martin Fromm and Hair Guru and Studio M founder Michael Barger agreed on the century old basement of the hair salon situated nicely in Downtown Missoula to stage Fromms provoking Art exhibit.

The Installation on display through 2004 is comprised of thousands of items, ranging from unusual Photos of faces and bodies to an eclectic collection of gizmos and stuff. Medical, Mechanical and Scientific Laboratory items arranged seemingly chaotic effectively intrude express the Artists vision in the 16x16x10 space.

Fromm began conceptualizing this current project more than 18 months ago. Feedback from close friends, family and therapists, helped solidify his resolve to create a work so expressive and personal its all right here" says Fromm as he flicks another cigarette on the dirt floor. The Installation has a timeless quality while seeming to overwhelm the viewer with an intrusive edge. It was hard to watch Marty Struggle with the vulnerability that came with exposing his personal self" says wife Carrie.

Since its opening February 6th, the flow of visitors grows, many with little idea of what they would find.

I had to come back twice to see it, I was too embarrassed at the opening to admit I couldnt find the downstairs" chuckles Jason a local Artist, its all anyone seems to talk about even at the other galleries."

Regularly 15 to 40 people a day Find their way to the salon for a quick peek or and extended visit. Bargers Salon, a buzzing hot spot for hair that caters to a diverse clientele began hosting Art exhibits 7 years ago after taking classes at the local university. Barger has displayed hundreds of artists and their work and has a knack for hosting successful openings.

Marty should feel very proud of his work, he woke up a few souls out there" Barger grins.

Visitors reactions amaze the staff, " curious, scared, amazed, like it or not it kinda makes em think" says Melissa, stylist.

Ultimately the untitled Art Installation, poised in the depths of Studio M, made by Marty Fromm wont make him well rested or wealthy, perhaps, a bit closer to understanding his pain while giving others a chance to see beauty where they have never thought to look, through example.
