Procrastinator Takes Nearly Two Decades to Write Book

Because I Can is a collection of essays about life's many lessons, and the joy to be found in each ordinary and extraordinary moment.

(PRWEB) March 12, 2004 -- Author Joan Borgatti announces the release of her new book, Because I Can. "You should write a book!" was a frequent comment Joan Borgatti heard when she wrote slice-of-life essays that were published in regional newspapers. Years went by, and the author would still run in to people who would pull tattered copies of one of her essays from their wallets or tell her that an essay was still in a place of honor - the refrigerator - well-read and now tattered with time.

Nearly two decades later, author Joan Borgatti has put together Because I Can, a collection of essays and one short story that touch on subjects to which everyone can relate - parenting, aging, jealousy, stress, and even those Dilbert-like office moments. The collection includes the humorous (parenting) and poignant (the impact of her mother's illness) slices of everyday life. Because I Can spans the journey as the author raised her children, wrestled and reconciled with jealousy and wrinkles and lost opportunities, and learned empowering messages along the way.

"This book shows the special moments inside all those ordinary experiences we have while we're busy living our lives," says Janet Goldberg, mother of two children and a healthcare professional.

So why did it take so long to write the book? Joan replies, "I finally wrote myself a permission slip to put myself at the top of my to-do list. I should have done it long ago!"

Joan C. Borgatti has held a number of roles, including pediatric nurse and editor and editorial director for a niche publication with a circulation of 80,000 readers. She resigned from her job as Chief Information Officer of her family, but retains the title of mother emeritus. She is now owner of Borgatti Communications, which provides writing, editing, speaking, and life and writing coaching services. She lives in a suburb of Boston with her husband and two adult children, who swear they are moving out soon.

Because I Can is a must-read for anyone traveling along the path of life, especially those with children. (ISBN: 1-59113-464-1). January 2004, Booklocker.com. It is available on all amazon sites and for special orders through bookstores. It can also be ordered directly from www.booklocker.com. The price is $13.95 US.
