Danish Man of the year

Frank Andersen,Director of the Royal Danish Ballet is named Man of the Year! Come celebrate him at our sparkling dinner dance

(PRWEB) March 20, 2004 --For more than forty years now the Danish American Society has honored individuals for their contributions to Danish American relations and cultural exchange.Last year the recipient was His Royal highness Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark. This year the Danish American Society has selected Frank Andersen, artistic director of the Danish Ballet, as Man of the Year and will honor him at a sparkling Gala Dinner on April 23, 2004at The Loeb boat House in Central Park. There will be a special performance by The Royal Danish Ballet.

We are honoring Frank for his contributions to the dance world as well as his enthusiastic support of cultural exchange between Denmark and the United States. Frank Andersen Knight of the Dannebrog, 1st grade is also known as 'the Ambassador of Bournonville! The dancing Dane began his career in 1960 as a child at the Royal Danish Ballet School and entered the Royal Danish Ballet in 1971, where he was appointed principal dancer in 1977, and he hasn't stopped since!

Mr. Andersen served as Artistic Director of the Royal Danish Ballet from 1985 to 1994, as Artistic Director of the Royal Swedish Ballet from 1995 to 1999, and returned as Artistic Director of the Royal Danish Ballet in of 2002.

He helped to create D.A. N.C.E with the Danish American Society and the Friends of The Royal Danish Ballet. Both of these charity organisations have assisted in encouraging young dancers to fulfil their dreams.

His awards include The Berlingske Foundation Prize of Honor (2000); The Dance Magazine Award (2002); and Margot Lander's Grant of Honor (2003) and now he can add Man of the Year!
