The Oxford Princeton Programme Offers Oil Shipping Course in Dubai, United Arab Emirates for the First Time - Drawing on working knowledge and experience of industry speakers, the course examines key issues and their impact on tanker ownership, chartering and operations

PRINCETON, NJ (PRWEB) March 24, 2004 -- The Oxford Princeton Programme, the worlds leading provider of training solutions to the energy, commodity and derivatives industries, introduces Tanker Ownership, Chartering and Operations course to Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Covering crude oil, petroleum products and the chemicals and gas transportation sectors, the course examines important issues from economic to environmental, when evaluating contract options, chartering and investment strategies, logistics and operating tactics.

The tanker market has experienced three spikes in rates in the past four years," explains Charles Lawrie, director of the Tanker Ownership, Chartering and Operations course. As a result, oil transportation costs have risen sharply at times, to the extent that they have impacted arbitrage opportunities. At the same time the tanker industry is experiencing a massive fleet renewal program, driven by the age of the fleet and the increasingly stringent operating standards required under international, regional and country legislation and by oil companies and traders. Consolidation in the tanker sector has also raised the profile of some of the major owners on the worlds equity markets."

All this has increased the importance of tanker transportation in the oil supply chain. The course is designed uniquely to provide participants with the practical expertise and knowledge to analyze market opportunities, assess the commercial impact of regulatory developments, negotiate chartering agreements and develop sound chartering strategies and shipping portfolios."

Charles Lawrie, partner in Maritime Economics and Business Consultancy firm Richardson Lawrie Associates (RLA), has 32 years experience working on all commercial and business aspects of the sector for a wide range of clients including international and national oil companies, shipping companies, financial institutions, government organizations, ports and waterways and legal firms. Lawrie is responsible for RLAs oil transportation consulting work and has broad experience over a range of functions comprising the tanker industry.

Charles Kemp, co-director of Tanker Ownership, Chartering and Operations, is a consultant with Richardson Lawrie Associates and a logistics advisor with SABIC. He has wide commercial experience of the tanker and chemical carrier industries, both as a charter and in an owning environment. Kemp planned and set up tanker ownership companies providing comprehensive and detailed advice concerning decisions preparatory to, and the establishment of, best practice marine ship management, marketing and chartering functions for the company. Establishments include the optimum P and I cover, ship purchasing, and company management information systems.

Tanker Ownership, Chartering and Operations is a three day intensive course. The scheduled date for Dubai, United Arab Emirates is June 6 - 8, 2004. For a complete schedule of this course, visit http://www.oxfordprinceton.com.
