LAKE FOREST, CA (PRWEB) March 25, 2004 --- Preeminent workplace violence expert, W. Barry Nixon, Executive Director, National Institute for the Prevention of Workplace Violence, Inc., will present a workshop devoted to The Seven Steps to Addressing the Unique Requirements of a Crisis Action Plan for Dealing with an Incident of Workplace Violence" and why this plan must be different from other workplace disasters; Wednesday, March 31, 2004, 1:30-2:30 p.m., at the ASIS Emerging Trends in Security Conference; the Renaissance Hotel in Chicago.

Media will be interested in attending to get an update on why Workplace Violence is unique as a workplace hazard; while heightened security concerns have put more attention on emergency plans and many firms have plans in place for terrorist/bomb attacks and natural disasters, workplace violence involves a thinking, mobile and dangerous person and must be dealt with in a different manner than other emergencies.

This session focuses on how to successfully implement a Crisis Action Plan designed specifically to meet the unique requirements associated with a workplace violence incident.

Topics include:
-- Workplace Violence as a Workplace Hazard
-- Most Important Focus is Prevention
-- The need to put some teeth into No Weapons Policy
-- The importance of Testing & Drilling/Pre-Incident Preparation
-- Financial Impact of a Workplace Violence Incident
-- 7 Steps to Crisis Response Plan
-- The Need for Effective Communication
-- Automated Emergency Notification System
-- Employee & Management Training
-- Integration with Business Continuity Planning
-- Is Failure to Plan the Next Liability Frontier?
