New Software Speed Reads Resumes

New RESUMate Database Software Slashes Cost of Reading and Filing Online Resumes
Saline, MI -- March 23, 2004 -- In the current job market, any company that advertises a job opening receives hundreds of e-mailed resumes. Of all the resumes received, only a small percentage accurately describes qualified applicants. Most are clutter, but federal regulations require resumes of all qualified job seekers to be filed and retained for a year or longer.
RESUMate, Inc., a 16-year old software company specializing in HR database applications, has just released Import Express, an extremely low-cost database product that extracts resumes out of any Windows or Outlook folder, and builds a complete database record from the text contained within the resume itself. The original resume file, usually a Microsoft Word file (or simply text within the e-mail message itself) is automatically attached to the database record.
Thanks to these software advances, the administrative cost associated with reading e-mailed resumes and filing them into a searchable database has fallen nearly to zero. If a company receives just a few thousand resumes per year, the software cost of reading and filing each resume is literally a penny or two per resume.
Converting a resume into a database record takes about 10 seconds. The user can point to a single document or e-mail message, or even point to a folder full of documents or messages, and convert hundreds of resumes at a time into easy-to-search database records.
"I had 2,000 resumes that were hidden in my e-mail for a long time -- I never would have done anything with them, but now theyre in my database," says Dave Mack, of MedMarket Search in Chicago, IL. "Import Express really did the job."
