Toronto to be Largest Event on 2004 International Festival of Cinema and Technology Tour

The Toronto film festival event on the IFCT 2004 World Tour will be taking place April 10th, 11th and 12th in Downtown Toronto. The three-day event will feature screenings of independent shorts including documentaries, animation, experimental, dramas and comedies.

(PRWEB) March 25, 2004 -- The International Festival of Cinema and Technology Toronto event will take place next month with three days of festival screenings on April 10th, 11th and 12th. Venues for the event include the Canadian Broadcast Centre's Conference Centre on Saturday April 10th, The Rivoli on April 11th and Innis Town Hall on April 12th. The IFCT Toronto event is part of the IFCT 2004 World Tour which is also taking place in London, Orlando, New York, and Sydney. Last year's IFCT event took place at the Maple Leaf Theatre at the CN Tower and the CBC Conference Centre.

Festival projects include short comedies, dramas, animations, experimental films, music videos and documentaries and are from truly independent filmmakers from a variety of countries including the U.S., U.K., Canada, Mexico, Spain, Colombia, France, Germany, Bermuda, and Switzerland. The festival's motto is it seeks to "discover the undiscovered film." The "technology" in the festival's name occurs both in the content of the festival, which tends to focus on themes of technology or feature unique creation techniques, as well as in the method of showcasing content at the events.

Three Canadian Directors will be present at the screenings to discuss their films including Saied Ezzati, Director of the film "Crimson and Clover" which is about a man dealing with the death of his mother; this student film has already won a variety of festival awards including Best Cinematography. Toronto Writer/Director Alexander Galant's will also be present at the event,his film "First Light" is a supernatural story about souls who were in love in another time period looking for each other. "First Light" features a number of historical settings, special effects, as well as the present-day streets of Toronto. An additional highlighted Canadian film is "Songs of the Earth" a documentary film about the marginalized perspective of animals- "Songs of the Earth" is making its World Premiere with The International Festival of Cinema and Technology. A variety of other directors will be present at the event to discuss their films including from Spain, Pedro Sanchez and Alejandro Alvarado Jodar, their film "1.891 voltios, cariņo," Peter Bradley, Director of "Edgar Allen Poe's The Raven," Natalie Paige Bentley, Writer/Director of "Butterfly Angels," Geoffrey O'Brien, Director of "Haunted," Alexander Winfield, "The End of the Door," William Walter "The Scotsmen," Karen Tarapata "Bread with Gravy," Pete McPartland Jr. "Sunny and Diane," and Dean Augustin "The Secret Journals of Benny Travis" among others.

Tickets for each night are a suggested donation of $7 for admission to all screenings, and can be obtained at the door the day of the event. Screenings Saturday April 10th are at the CBC Conference Centre, 327 Front Street West, from 11:30am-10:30pm, screenings Sunday April 11th at the Rivoli, 334 Queen Street West, run from 6pm-11pm, and screenings Monday April 12th are at Innis Town Hall, 2 Sussex Ave. (Sussex and St. George), from 7pm-midnight.
