Thinkage Expands Use of Xybernaut Wearable Computers for Food Service; Computers used in process management at food plants and in food supply networks

(PRWEB) March 26, 2004 -- Xybernaut(R) Corporation XYBR and Thinkage LLC have expanded their relationship to combine Xybernaut Atigo(R) mobile/wearable computing technologies with Thinkage process management solutions into a single solution for various food processing and food service applications.

Thinkage is one of several food ventures established by Murray Hill, New Jersey-based BOC BOX, which is investing in high-growth, entrepreneurial companies whose products and services complement its existing temperature, atmosphere and microbe control technologies.

Integrated Thinkage-Xybernaut mobile computing units will be showcased during the snack food trade show (SNAXPO) at the Thinkage booth (#1143) March 21-23 in Philadelphia, PA.

The complete "kit" consists of a Xybernaut computer with standard Windows software, a wireless networking solution for transferring captured data and web-based resources (such as BOC Think Gates(R)) for viewing and managing the captured information.

The integrated Thinkage-Xybernaut Atigo computing units are part of Thinkage's Think Gates(R) process monitoring service from BOC. Thinkage deploys the Think Gates service for use in food processing plants and food supply networks to enable customers to monitor and control their food inventories as well as the state of their food product as it moves from one processing cell to another. The service allows customers access to real-time information so they can reduce or eliminate process yield fluctuations, downtime and product inconsistency.

Thinkage, which has been a member of Team Xybernaut(TM) for more than three years, has been working with Xybernaut to develop and deploy integrated platforms for a variety of critical business functions.

"Our customers have already accepted joint Xybernaut-Thinkage solutions - using Xybernaut's Mobile Assistant IV and V platforms - as a reliable and cost effective means of managing information, so it was a natural progression to extend our process management capabilities to the Atigo product," said Mark Grace, president of Thinkage.

Steven A. Newman, president and COO, Xybernaut Corporation, said, "The Thinkage-Xybernaut mobile/wearable solution offers logistics support, enhanced operations management and greater flexibility throughout the food process workflow. Using the joint solution, inspectors or quality assurance technicians are dispatched to monitor any part of the process to capture various types of data."

Thinkage and Xybernaut are also working closely together to identify, develop and capture new business opportunities in food plant, food supply and related industry sectors. The companies share relevant business development strategies and information to help anticipate evolving customer needs.

Both companies are leaders in their respective markets -- Xybernaut in mobile/wearable computing, and Thinkage in process management for food service industries.

Thinkage, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is a premier process management company with specialized expertise in optimizing operations of food plants and food supply networks. Further information about Thinkage LLC and the Think Gates(R) service can be found at www.thinkagesystems.com.
