Washington, DC (PRWEB) April 9, 2004 -- Freddy Adu was not alone in making a nationally televised debut last Saturday. HI-POD, the extreme camera monopod, made its national television debut for ABC by performing as a goal camera for the (MLS) Major League Soccer season opener between last year's champions the San Jose Earthquakes and D.C. United.
The pan, tilt, zoom, monitor at eye-level and "pick it up and go" 15-foot monopod was used like a crane in the right goal. The HI-POD was put to immediate use, easily capturing great footage of DC United's two first half goals.
The HI-POD X1-P was one of 13 cameras tethered to a production truck for the live broadcast of 14 year old Freddy Adu's first professional game. No modifications had to be made to the HI-POD X1-P for it to work into the professional broadcast.
Before the game the HI-POD company had some time to focus on its dealers. Continuing in its goal to provide instruction at all new dealer locations, the HI-POD company performed a basic training certification class at the Barbizon Lighting office in Washington D.C. "HI-POD acts just like a crane, without the weight problems of a crane." commented Intern and HI-POD trainee Tom Bellomy. " you can pick up a HI-POD from one location like the goal area and move it to another location like the crazy fan section. You just can't do that with a crane."
"We are very excited that the HI-POD has received professional acceptance so quickly," said HI-POD CEO Rick Morales. "Based on overwhelming acceptance of the HI-POD X1-P, we look forward to positive growth within the sports and news industries."
The HI-POD will be on display at this year's NAB convention in Las Vegas, April 19-22, 2004. The HI-POD X1-P will be in the B&H Photo booth as well as RFCentral booth. Special new HI-POD developments will be announced at this year's NAB convention.
