GTI Risk Management to Address the Michigan Contract Security Association Conference

GTI Risk Management will be presenting a program on threat assessment and identifying business risk at a conference held by the Michigan Contract Security Association on April 23, 2004. Employee Fraud, Intellectual property theft, Business Identity Theft, Computer System Attacks and Lawsuits are costing U.S. businesses billions of dollars.

Ypsilanti, MI (PRWEB) April 12, 2004 -- GTI Risk Management (www.gtiriskmanagement.com) announced today that Greg George, company president and CEO will be presenting a program on Threat Assessment and Identifying Business Risk at a conference held by the Michigan Contract Security Association (www.mcsa-online.org). The one day conference, also featuring outstanding presentations by other professionals on security topics of interest, will be held at the Freight House at Depot Town in downtown Ypsilanti, MI. on April 23, 2004 from 9:30 until 3:30.

Every few months we provide our members opportunities to meet in a professional environment, exchange ideas and interact with other experts in our profession…a large part of our mission is also creating opportunities for continuing education and business development," said Al Cavasin, spokesman for the MCSA and president of Great Northern Sentry Company (www.greatnorthernsentry.com) in Jackson, MI.

Franklin Frith, business development representative (www.frith.cc) for GTI, added GTI is continually researching and adding new programs that support increased client needs in areas of security, business risk reduction and due diligence matters. A strong policy of the company is to share those developments and programs with the legal community and other security professionals whenever possible."

The National Fraud Information Center reported 37,183 complaints in 2003 compared to 36,802 in 2002. According to the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, It is estimated that 6% of revenues will be lost in 2002 as a result of occupational fraud and abuse. Applied to the U.S. Gross Domestic Product, this translates to losses of approximately $600 billion, or about $4,500 per employee. The Report to the Nation 2004 is scheduled to be released in Spring 2004.

U. S. Department of Commerce statistics indicate 30% of all business failures are the result of poor hiring practices. Embezzlement costs industry $4 billion a year. Other employee crime, both blue and white collar, costs another $45 to $50 billion annually. Statistics also indicate that most people who steal, cheat, defraud or embezzle are never detected by their former employers. At least 25% of applicants stretch the truth or lie on their applications and these figures are rising.

As part of our program, we will be addressing ways security companies can help their clients identify these risks and protect themselves from liability as it relates to their employees", added Mr. George.
