Short Term Solution to Soccer and Baseball Fields Found; Permanent Solution Sought

Representatives from Granada Hills Youth Recreation Center (GHYRC) met today with Los Angeles City Councilman Greig Smith, who communicated that a tentative agreement had been reached with the Metropolitan Water District to extend the lease at the Joseph Jensen Filtration Plant until the end of 2005, and a probable extension through 2006 is in the works.

Granada Hills, CA (PRWEB) April 11, 2004 -Representatives from Granada Hills Youth Recreation Center (GHYRC) met today with Los Angeles City Councilman Greig Smith, who communicated that a tentative agreement had been reached with the Metropolitan Water District to extend the lease at the Joseph Jensen Filtration Plant until the end of 2005, and a probable extension through 2006 is in the works. It is hoped that this short term extension will provide enough time to find a permanent solution for the soccer and baseball programs of the Northern San Fernando Valley.

We are extremely pleased that our local representatives, the MWD and City agencies were able to work together to find a short-term solution to this problem", said Gary Holmen, spokesperson for GHYRC. We look forward to working with them to find a permanent home for the children of Northern San Fernando Valley to play soccer and baseball".

Councilman Greig Smith, who represents the area, said, I am gratified to have found a short term solution for the thousands of families that utilize these soccer and baseball facilities. I will do whatever it takes to find a permanent home for youth soccer and baseball in the northwest San Fernando Valley."
