Hairstylist's Site Shows How to Cut Hair
Author Steve Woodham puts his haircutting instruction book on the web.
San Diego, CA (PRWEB) April 12, 2004 --With tight budgets and busy schedules a concern, haircuts by professionals can be a luxury. A seasoned barber-stylist and salon owner, Steven Woodham, has come up with a solution available at his web site, http://haircutkit.com
Motivated by the popularity of classes he taught at Escondido Adult School in California, Woodham wrote the book Cut Hair at Home Like a Pro." When it was originally published in 1992, Woodham placed ads in national magazines and was surprised by the large number of responses, especially from rural areas.
Ive noticed a growing trend of customers coming in for ‘repair jobs to fix a botched home haircut so I decided it was time to put my haircutting book on line," Woodham says. I could see what beginners were having trouble catching on to. Also, there are no real instructions with the clippers you buy, so theres a real need for something like this. You can save money and its really fun."
All haircuts are variations of three basic cuts, according to Woodham. He covers all the basics and also explains how to cut childrens hair, how to cut your own hair and how to cut if you are left-handed.
Woodham launched haircutkit.com in late 2002. My first month I got 10,000 hits," says the barber-stylist.
The illustrated book "Cut Hair at Home Like a Pro" is available at the site by mail order or by instant download ($12.95). There is a special section at the site with free haircutting tips. An additional haircutting kit is also available.
Woodham is currently working on a Spanish translation of the book and site. I believe there is a huge market with Hispanics and it may be a little easier to market at a retail level because of the demand there," he says.
Woodham has been cutting hair for more than 20 years. Actually, I originally became a hairstylist to help support a career as a musician," he says. They are compatible fields. Cutting hair is an art, like creating music or painting a picture, but the canvas is a real human being. The best part is getting to meet a lot of people from all walks of life."
