Edwards Online Electoral Map Picked Up by PBS

PBSs Online Edition of The News Hour announced today that they have licensed the popular interactive electoral map originally created for the John Edwards presidential campaign Web Site. New York, NY (PRWEB) April 30, 2004 -- PBSs Online Edition of The News Hour announced today that they have licensed the popular interactive electoral map originally created for the John Edwards presidential campaign Web Site. The electoral map is one of a new breed of virtual branded applications created and designed by Rowen/Warren, a New York-based ad agency.

The map allows users to switch red states" and blue states" back and forth to determine, in real time, what combination will be needed to win the presidency. The map also has historical features that allow viewers to compare individual presidential races going back to 1980, and a special Election Trends section that highlights individual states and their roles in previous elections.

adds Rowen/Warren co-founder David Warren. Well, heres a great example of what they look like and how they work. They lie at the intersection of technology and persuasion. Theyre half Bill Bernbach and half Bill Gates.
Rowen/Warren consulted for the John Edwards 2004 presidential campaign, helping the freshman North Carolina senators meteoric rise with marketing, advertising and Web site design.

Rowen/Warren created a special non-partisan version of the map that The News Hour will feature on several of its sites including its Campaign 2004 Web site. This electoral map represents the best kind of informative and interactive public affairs content on the Web," says Jason Manning, Local – National Editor of the Online NewsHour. It lets our Web site visitors participate in our coverage by designing and analyzing their own scenarios for the outcome of the election while providing up-to-date election information on each state. Applications like the electoral college map allow us to use the Web to its full potential as a tool for education and participation, providing Web users a type of content that serves as a powerful complement to traditional mediums like print and broadcast."

The very fact that the map is both informative and enjoyable is at the core of its effectiveness as a marketing tool," according to Rowen/Warren co-founder Larry Rowen. In todays environment, consumers just dont have the time or, quite frankly, the interest for traditional promotion. Weve had great success creating online content that has real value and holds real interest for the user."

Theres a lot of buzz out there about branded applications," adds Rowen/Warren co-founder David Warren. Well, heres a great example of what they look like and how they work. They lie at the intersection of technology and persuasion. Theyre half Bill Bernbach and half Bill Gates."

Rowen/Warren also works with other clients outside the political arena including Time Warner, Novartis, Pernod Ricard, and Scholastic.
