Matthew Shepard Play, The Laramie Project" To Be Presented During New York City Gay Pride, 6 Years after His Tragic Death

This June, the The Laramie Project" will once again take the stage Off-Off Broadway in New York City, 6 short years after Matthew Shepards tragic death. Directed by Adam Roebuck, the play will be presented at the Arthur Seelen Theater on June 25th, 26th, & 27th, with performances at 2 and 8PM.

New York, NY (PRWEB) May 6, 2004 -– Written by Moises Kaufman and members of Tectonic Theater Project, The Laramie Project", is based on over 200 interviews the small theater company collected over 6 trips to Laramie. Recently The Laramie Project" was made into a movie and presented by Home Box Office, featuring some of Hollywoods finest character actors.

Director, Adam Roebuck, states Most people assume that this piece is solely about Matthew. While his death does play an important part in the action of the play, the real story is the people of Laramie and their stories and interesting viewpoints. During the course of the play over 60 townspeople chronologically recount what happened during the fall of 1998. The audience is asked to listen to what they believe is true: what happened, their involvement, and how its affected both them and their hometown of Laramie. The thing that struck me the most when researching the play and Matthew was the fact that he and I are the same age...it could have been me."

The Laramie Project" will be presented by Adam Roebuck Productions at the Arthur Seelen Theater, located 250 West 40th Street, New York, New York, on June 25th, 26th, and 27th at 2 and 8PM daily. Tickets are $20 at the door or can be purchased online for $21 at www.LaramieProject2004.com .
