Ann Arbor Native Opens Bar in Central America
Ann Arbor, Michigan native, Glen L. Roberts, opened a bar, restaurant in Alajuela, Costa Rica last week. Chitos Bar & Resturante is located on one of the busiest streets in Costa Ricas second largest city. It has a full bar and the restaurant serves Costa Rican, Mexican, and Peruvian food. Several American dishes will be added to the menu soon.
ALAJUELA, COSTA RICA (PRWEB) May 7, 2004 -– Ann Arbor, Michigan native, Glen L. Roberts, opened a bar, restaurant in Alajuela, Costa Rica last week. Chitos Bar & Resturante is located on one of the busiest streets in Costa Ricas second largest city. It has a full bar and the restaurant serves Costa Rican, Mexican, and Peruvian food. Several American dishes will be added to the menu soon.
The most popular dishes are the Costa Rican Bocas," small tasty snacks: Deditos Pescado" deep fried fish fingers, Costilla Cerdo" pork ribs, and Ceviche" shrimp or mixed seafood (marinated in lemon and garnish) seem to be the favorites. Everyone is greeted with complementary chips and bean dip.
Roberts say the bar was designed to offer a quiet international atmosphere" and that it is well liked by both locals and tourists. It is a great place where tourists can mingle with locals, many who are delighted at the opportunity to practice their English. We have also started a link section on our web site reserved exclusively for those who have visited the bar. It will provide an opportunity for the world to see what many in Costa Rica are doing on the web.
Beer starts at $1.16 a bottle (for Imperial and Pilsen the top Costa Rica brands of beer), Cigarettes $1.40 a pack, and most meals range from $3.25 to $6.50 a plate.
Many ideas for the bar have come from his travels to Panama, Peru and Colombia over the past year" said Roberts.
A Cigar Room" is being renovated for those who wish to enjoy a good Costa Rican or Cuban Cigar. The bar will almost double in size within several months upon final approval from the Municipalidad and renovations of the patio area. Chitos Bar and Restaurante is managed by Roberts, his Costa Rican partner and currently employees 10 residents of Costa Rica.
Roberts has lived in the tropical, spring like climate of Costa Rica for 1-1/2 years while operating his internet businesses in Oil City, Pennsylvania.
