New Chairman for London Thames Gateway Urban Development Corporation in the UK: Inventa Partners Chairman Lorraine Baldry

The UK Government has asked Lorraine Baldry to act as Chairman designate of the proposed London Thames Gateway Urban Development Corporation (UDC). Lorraine Baldry is Chairman of Inventa Partners Ltd, which manages the process of technology transfer through to full commercialisation for building and construction sector companies, supported by relationships with major European research and development partners such as QinetiQ and the Fraunhofer Institute.

London, UK (PRWEB) May 10, 2004 -- The Deputy Prime Minister has asked Lorraine Baldry to act as Chairman designate of the proposed London Thames Gateway Urban Development Corporation (UDC), with a view to her appointment as Chairman for a period of three years commencing on the establishment of the UDC.

Lorraine Baldry is Chairman of Inventa Partners Ltd, which was set up in 2001 to identify new advances in technology that UK companies in the building and construction sector can employ to achieve competitive advantage through product differentiation. The companys services include management of the process of technology transfer through to full commercialisation, supported by relationships with its major European research and development partners such as QinetiQ and the Fraunhofer Institute.

Subject to Parliamentary approval, the London Thames Gateway UDC will be established before the summer recess and will be fully operational by the end of the year, according to the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister.

Note to Editor: Inventa Partners

Inventa Partners enable companies to develop new strategic business opportunities by resolving the critical obstacles to major technological innovation in their manufacturing processes, materials and finished products.

Inventa, of Winchester in Hampshire, was founded in 2001 and is currently focused on innovation within the ‘built environment: the materials, processes and structures required for the construction, maintenance and servicing of residential and commercial property, public spaces and transport infrastructure.

The building and construction sector increasingly requires new solutions to meet the growing technical demands arising from environmental, legislation and other pressures. Current project applications by Inventa range from finding new materials for minimising the water and energy consumption of building services systems, to advanced coatings for the external fabric of buildings that will reduce the cost of operation.

Inventa offers client companies a knowledge base of technological innovation that is often five to ten years ahead of an industrys prevailing state of the art, the company says. This results from successful R&D undertaken by Inventas technology partners, with resources that include some 30,000 scientists and more than 60 billion of research funding.
