Tabitha the Cat who became famous in 1994 for surviving 13 days and over 36,000 miles on a 747 died of cancer this week
(PRWEB) May 19, 2004 -- Tabitha, star of the book, "Tabitha the Fabulous Flying Feline" (Walker & Co. ISBN: 0802784488) died of lung cancer this week. She was 12 years old. Tabitha became famous in 1994 when she was lost onboard a Tower Air 747 jet travelling from New York to Los Angeles. 13 days and 36,000 miles later, she was recovered by owner, Carol Ann Timmel, unharmed. Her rescue made national headlines. As a result of her ordeal, Tabitha appeared on The Oprah Winfrey Show, CBS This Morning, The Leeza Show, Entertainment Tonight, The Today Show, Live at Five and in People Magazine. Her owner continues to share Tabitha's story with school children in the Los Angeles area through book readings. Tabitha is survived by her litter-mate, Pandora.
