Building on its POP3 email product, Greatmail's email hosting platform offers customers a managed email solution that includes extensive support and 24/7 server monitoring. Greatmail offers five email hosting plans that include up to 5 gibabytes of storage and 500 mailboxes per account. Product features include mail forwarding, autoresponders, aliases, mailing lists, virus protection and spam control. Greatmail's servers run the latest versions of Linux OS and utilize a non-centralized mirrored disk backup system. For critical applications, Greatmail develops custom hosting solutions including dedicated servers and clustering technologies.
Plan pricing is based on total megabytes of storage and offers greater value per megabyte as storage increases. For example, the e250 provides 250 megabytes of storage and costs $19.95/month or $0.08/mb/month. A larger plan, the e5000 provides 5000 megabytes of storage and costs only $199.95/month or $0.04/mb/month. Families or groups requiring less than 5 email addresses can take advantage of Greatmail's "Email at Your Domain" product which offers similar features but less storage than the email hosting plans.
Email hosting plans include a non-refundable $80 set up fee that includes DNS support, domain name registration for one year, the establishment of a customer's mail accounts and support in configuring client applications such as Microsoft Outlook. Customers are billed automatically by credit card each month. In most cases, a customer's email accounts can be set up and working within several hours depending on the DNS configuration. Custom server solutions may include additional non-refundable set up fees.
