War Crimes Investigators Form Association

War crimes investigators from four continents have recently formed The International Association of War Crimes Investigators. The primary purpose of this unique organization is fraternal, educational, and charitable. Annual meetings will be held at The Hague and other great cities throughout the world.

The Hague (PRWEB) June 5, 2004 -- From Auschwitz to the atrocities committed in the former Yugoslavia-from murder and extermination to the mistreatment of prisoners of war-the world has seen the worst crimes known to mankind. Recently an exclusive group of experienced criminal investigators, who are responsible for conducting international war crimes investigations, have formed an association.

War crimes investigators from around the world have come together to establish The International Association of War Crimes Investigators. The membership is comprised of law enforcement officers who have worked full-time investigating allegations of genocide, crimes against humanity, and war crimes for the purpose of criminal prosecutions before international courts, national criminal courts, courts-martial, or military tribunals or commissions. Associate membership is open to attorneys, criminal intelligence analysts, military intelligence officers, interpreters, and research officers who have directly supported war crimes investigations.

These investigators have worked significant cases of international importance," said John R. Cencich, professor of law and justice at California University of Pennsylvania, who has just recently been elected to be the Associations first president. According to Cencich, who previously worked high level war crimes investigations at the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia at The Hague, the purposes of the Association are fraternal, educational, and charitable; this is not a political organization."

The first annual meeting of the Association will be at The Hague in 2005 and will continue to be held in the Dutch diplomatic city every other year. During even-numbered years annual conferences will be held in the great cities throughout the world as sponsored by members of the Association. You will be hearing much more about the Association and its activities in the future as it undertakes its charitable and educational goals.
