NMS upgrades Salfords sweepers with Johnston Glide suspension

Northern Municipal Spares (NMS) has placed an order for sixteen C50 Compact road sweepers from Johnston Sweepers to service Salford City Councils street cleansing contract.

(PRWEB) June 20, 2004 -- Northern Municipal Spares (NMS) has placed an order for sixteen C50 Compact road sweepers from Johnston Sweepers to service Salford City Councils street cleansing contract.

Salford awarded a three-year contract to NMS in 2001 and has now granted a two-year extension to the contract period, which requires all equipment to be replaced.

The 16 new machines have all been supplied with Johnstons Comfort Pack, which includes the remarkable new Glide suspension system, air conditioning, deluxe heated drivers seat with lumber support, CD radio and heated mirrors for a quick getaway on frosty mornings.

NMS was in fact the first company to buy machines fitted with Glide suspension, snapping up the first 40 machines to come off the production line after its introduction in 2003. The new system allows speed humps, pot holes and kerbs to be negotiated at speed, and has vastly improved operator comfort.

In a recently introduced new process, from Johnston, Salfords machines have been produced using pre gel-coated fibreglass panels in the councils eye-catching magenta pink corporate colours. The process eliminates the need for painting in-house and produces a high quality gloss finish.

An NMS engineer will continue to be based permanently on site at Salford to maintain and service the sweepers, and to meet NMSs standard of 98% utilisation across its entire fleet.
