Arts Employment Resource Goes High Tech to Safeguard Privacy

The 4 year old, San Francisco based, Gigslist.org has now changed to a new site Gigdirectory.net Arts and Media Classifieds, and goes high tech with advanced php programming to protect members' and posters' privacy, plus a high volume job referral service and classifieds.

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) June 20, 2004 -- The biggest problem with finding paid work in arts and media is that you have to surf 20 sites a day and even the best of those sites will only post no more than 10 or 20 paid jobs in one week. And then maybe one of those jobs is right for you. Compounding this problem is that the jobs are posted on sites that require no registration to view, so a qualified resume will end up competing with 1000 or more other resumes. On the employer's side is an equal nightmare with sifting through those 1000 or more resumes every week, plus spam. One employer complained of getting spam from a job notice she posted 3 years ago on a free access site; another complained of getting only student and unqualified applications.

The solution is Gigdirectory.net which has been in four years research and development to find out what works best for the arts and media worker and employer. "We don't just wait for jobs to come in, we go out and find the jobs and bring them to our subscribers." Gigdirectory.net posts over 1200 paid arts and media jobs per month, posted daily. Employers and workers can also post their jobs and resumes free, and cruise jobs and resumes for a small subscription fee in a private online classifieds. Automated free posting is one thing, but protecting your privacy is another.

The other advantage for artists and employers is privacy and safety on gigdirectory.net. Unless otherwise requested, all members contact details are private, and resume and job contacts, and unless otherwise requested, can only be seen by registered subscribers, each of whom can be traced through their transaction info. "This we worked towards after a couple of previous female performers were harassed from having their resumes and contacts in a public access area." Also folks have to register their email address before they even see the free stuff, which makes spammers and harassers think again, and makes for a more "on topic" community.

This arrangement is win-win for both workers and employers, as workers are welcomed into a large professional community of currently over 7000 members; and employers don't get spammed by our members, as folks have to be paid subscribers to view most listings. Another privacy and time saving feature of gigdirectory.net is that subscribers can get jobs and/or resumes, in their chosen categories emailed to them as soon as they are posted. "You don't have to login to the site and surf, the notices simply arrive straight to your email box."

Gigdirectory.net listings cover all of North America with a few listings from Australia, UK, Europe, and Asia. To experience gigdirectory.net for yourself, sign up for a free account on http://www.gigdirectory.net and take your time to look around as it is a big site. Apart from banner and editorial, all our self promotion facilities are free, including posting resumes and shows, and networking in the Forums. This is a perfect recruitment solution especially for independent productions and businesses with tight production budgets.
