G. F. Mlely Treks Across Fresh Flowing Lava Field in Hawaii

Calling it a "primal experience," acclaimed musician G. F. Mlely hiked across the fresh lava flow that continues to emanate from Kilauea volcano on Hawaii.

Kilauea, HI (PRWEB) July 1, 2004 -- The endless eruption on the island of Hawaii, also known as The Big Island (and getting bigger), continues to lure thousands of visitors daily from around the world. "It's like no other place on earth, an experience that is rare even once in a lifetime," says Mlely.

Giving a glimpse of some of the wonders of this spectacular mecca that gives no sign of ceasing, one of the photos accompanying this release shows Mlely standing a few feet away from one of the many eruptions of fresh lava common to emerge at any given moment.

"It's not always an easy walk," the pianist-composer says. "You find yourself hopping across and on rock that crunches, having just cooled enough to be walked on. Just a few feet below you can see through cracks the bright red river running of melted stone. It’s scary. But it’s almost impossible not to be drawn to such a phenomenal event."

The internationally acclaimed artist has recently re-emerged from a decades-long absence from professional music. "Threnody", a track on "Re-Entry", Mlely's first CD release in 20 years, was selected to be part of the New York theatrical production "Typewriter Dreams". Following "Re-Entry" with two more CDs, "88 Keys And Counting" and "A Little Night Waltz", on the JazCraft label, Mlely's recordings have been garnering wide critical praise.
