Secret Beach Solos Creates Musical Portrait of Listeners own Secret Beach

Secret Beach Solos," the second album in the Secret Beach series, paints an ambient portrait of songwriter/creator Eric Roths personal secret beach — a place where listeners can relax, meditate and take a dip into sonic waters.

Highland Park, IL (PRWEB) July 4, 2004 -- Secret Beach Solos," the second album in the Secret Beach series, paints an ambient portrait of songwriter/creator Eric Roths personal secret beach — a place where listeners can relax, meditate and take a dip into sonic waters.

I made this album to take the listener to the beach," Roth says. My secret beach, in many different ways, is similar to many beaches Ive been to throughout my life. I made this recording to take myself to the beach."

The album is a collection of modern-day impressionist compositions and field recordings that capture the feelings of a beach: discovery, serenity, solitude.

The first track, In Another Time," features syncopated guitar-and-bass riffs that mimic the rhythm of a beach breeze — lively, spritely and spirited.

The following track, Secret Beach," is a sonic portrait of the shore at twilight: a brisk bass line underscores a breezy acoustic guitar melody punctuated by rich, sharp electric guitar waves.

The third track, Moonbeams & Daydreams," feels like its name — electric guitars wail in and out of the song like falling stars, enveloped by a dreamy acoustic melody.

Secret Beach Raindrops" is the albums fourth track, a reflection of a light shoreline rain: rhythmic, upbeat and fresh.

Tracks five through seven — grouped under the name Between the Dark and the Daylight" — are live field recordings of the sounds of Roths favorite beach. The fifth track takes you to the base of the shoreline, where waves collide into one another. The sixth track takes you to the forest at night, where chirping crickets are heard against the soft rustling of leaves and the crashing of nearby waves. The albums final track is a journey into the water — you can almost feel the sand underneath your toes as you wade into the waves.

The total effect of the album is the sonic creation of a beach, through music, melody and imagination.

Each song creates a different scene, a fleeting moment, or musical poetry," Roth says. And the person listening to it creates their own secret beach." The liner notes included with the CD contain the basic chord charts to enable the listener to join the experience of Secret Beach by playing along and experimenting.

CDs of Secret Beach Solos" are available in hand-numbered, limited edition at www.secret-beach.com.

About the Secret Beach Project:
The beach holds a special place in Eric Roths experience.

When I was growing up in the suburbs, wed sneak out late at night to go to the beach — it was like an escape," Roth says. Wed build a bonfire and hang out. It was completely safe, and you could fall asleep and wake up there the next morning."

Roth recreates those memories, and the feeling of falling asleep and waking to the sounds of the beach, through the Secret Beach" project, a first set of albums that encourages listeners to escape to their own secret beach whenever theyd like.

Im trying to build a beach out of music," Roth says. And each album builds it in a different way."

The projects first album, Secret Beach," is a three-song collection of folksy, poppy reflections of those days around the bonfire. The second album, Secret Beach Solos," creates a sonic image of the beach through music and actual field recordings of shoreline sounds.

The goal of each album is to reinvent the concept of creating a beach through music.

I think that everyone has a secret place that they like to go to, and these albums are like that place," Roth says.
