Latin Hip-Hop Infiltrates the Caribbean

Brooklyn NY-based hip-hop outfit Joaquines rush to film a video due to the success of their debut single in the Dominican Republic. Fans cannot seem to get enough of this song as the phone lines light up for "Yo No Soy Superman".

Brooklyn, NY (PRWEB) July 13, 2004 -- Joaquines, the Brooklyn-based Latin alternative hip-hop trio is receiving much love from radio in the Dominican Republic, charting on the top 10 lists of the major stations including Rumba FM (owned by key tropical label J&N Records), Ritmo 96, Kiss 95, Antena 100, Cadena Espacial, and KQ 94. In fact, the outpouring of acceptance to the single has been so overwhleming, fans are curious and want to know what Joaquines look like. In response to the unexpected appeal, Joaquines, coming off a string of successful isolated northeast dates opening for ubiquitous bachata boy band Aventura and Los Toros Band, rushed home to shoot the video to their comical leadoff single, Yo No Soy Superman".

The video is being shot in Williamsburg Brooklyn, their hometown. Young Columbian director Mike Niche (has worked with Fat Joe, Terror Squad, Cuban Link, and The Beatnuts) is excited to take on this project, calling Joaquines one of the hottest groups to come out of Brooklyn since Jay-Z. Theyre bringing real new music to the urban Latino scene, and thats why I decided to work with Joaquines." Joaquines debut album Otro Planeta was produced by Ivan Heredia and available now on Black Banana Records.

Otro Planeta is composed of 11 tracks, with 10 tracks written by Joaquines and Ivan Heredia. Having worked with Grammy Award winning producer Sergio George and artists including Tito Nieves, Huey Dunbar, Jose Alberto "El Canario", Roselyn Sanchez, Nestor Torres, Plena Libre, Son By 4, Frankie Negron, and others, Heredia brings years of production experience, evident in the sheer quality of the record. Black Banana Records is an independent record label based in Brooklyn, NY founded by young producer Ivan Heredia. The label is dedicated to the steadfast growth of the urban Latino movement in America. For more information, please contact info@blackbananarecords.com
