CNN Interviews Homeland Security Expert from HSToday about the Threat of Terrorist Attacks this Summer - Examines Yesterday's Statement by Secretary Tom Ridge of the US Department of Homeland Security

This morning at 11:03 a.m. (EST), CNN will be interviewing David Silverberg, the founding editor of HSToday and a homeland security expert, about the threat of terrorist attacks this summer. Silverberg will be examining yesterday's statement by Secretary Tom Ridge of the US Department of Homeland Security.

WASHINGTON, DC (SEO-PR/PRWEB ) July 9, 2004 - This morning at 11:03 a.m. (EST), CNN will be interviewing David Silverberg, the founding editor of HSToday Magazine and a homeland security expert, about the threat of terrorist attacks this summer. Silverberg will be examining yesterday's statement by Secretary Tom Ridge of the US Department of Homeland Security.

While the Department of Homeland Security did not raise the color-coded threat level yesterday, Secretary Tom Ridge discussed "the increased risk of a terrorist attack this summer." Ridge said, "Since September 11th, 2001, we have had intelligence that al-Qaeda intends to launch more attacks against the homeland. Credible reporting now indicates that al-Qaeda is moving forward with its plans to carry out a large-scale attack in the United States in an effort to disrupt our democratic process."

Since September 11th, 2001, we have had intelligence that al-Qaeda intends to launch more attacks against the homeland. Credible reporting now indicates that al-Qaeda is moving forward with its plans to carry out a large-scale attack in the United States in an effort to disrupt our democratic process.
Given Tom Ridge's statement, CNN plans to ask Silverberg, "How safe are we from threats to our homeland security? How ready are we to face new terrorist attacks? What can we do about it and what is the Department of Homeland Security doing about it? Is the threat coming from within the US or from outside?"

Silverberg is editor of HSToday, the monthly magazine for homeland security policymakers. In addition to being a homeland security expert, he is also a respected Washington writer and editor with experience in defense, technology, and congressional affairs. He helped conceive and launch Homeland Defense Journal in April 2003. He has reported for Defense News, where he covered international trade and technology issues, and Armed Forces Journal, where he was editor-at-large. In 1998 he conceived, helped launch and edited the magazine Military Information Technology. He also served as executive editor of Military Training Technology and Missiles & Munitions. From 1999 to 2002 he served as managing editor of the weekly newspaper The Hill, covering Congress. During that time, he also authored the book Congress for Dummies (October, 2002), part of the popular "Dummies" book series, as a comprehensive and accessible guide to the US Congress. His writing has appeared in a variety of publications from the popular to the academic, including The Annals of the American Academy of Political and Social Science.
