No Limits Theatre - Henrik Ibsen's "A Doll House," Translated by Rolfe Fjelde

No Limits Theatre debut production of "A Doll House." Set in the 1950's when women were treated more as possesions than as self reliant individuals. This classsic favorite is given a new perspective by placing it in an era that is parallel from Ibsen's original setting and a new troupe of hip talent poised to engage a new generation of theater-goers.

North Hollywood, CA (PRWEB) July 16, 2004 -- No Limits Theatre is proud to present its debut production of Rolfe Fjelde's translation of Henrik Ibsen's, "A Doll House," a classic favorite from a new perspective. "A Doll House" is the story of one woman who breaks free from centuries of institutionalized gender roles to find her own identity. Nora was the perfect wife to her husband Torvald, who trained her to be the ideal domestic doll. When a secret of Noras past threatens to extinguish Torvald's model world, both Nora and Torvald experience dream-shattering realizations that their marriage and their love were not what they had appeared to be.

This rendition, directed by the up-and-coming Caroline Law, takes place in an entirely different yet parallel era from Ibsen's original setting: the stern patriarchy of turn-of-the-century Norway is transformed into the pretend perfection of the 1950s North American middle-class household. Both periods experienced cultures that treated women more as domestic possessions than as self-reliant individuals. No Limits Theatre brings out a new troupe of hip talent poised to engage not just the traditional theater-goers, but also the edgier twenty something crowd.
