Internet Based Irrigation System

A modular, 8 zone building block approach enables systems from 8 to over 2000 zones to be completely controlled over the internet.

San Antonio, TX (PRWEB) July 15, 2004 -- WGL and Associates announced today the immediate availability of a networked irrigation controller. This exciting new addition to their line of sprinkler controllers allows over 2000 zones of irrigation to be controlled from a single RS232 serial port on a computer or other device.

With the WGL supplied software running on a Windows based computer, all aspects may be controlled over the Internet from any place in the world.

The Rain8net building block is an 8-zone module just a little larger than a deck of cards (3.8" X 2.4" X 1.0"). Only the initial module is connected to a serial port and 24VAC source. Additional modules are daisy-chained in as many as 255, 8-zone increments by means of a pair of RJ45 modular jacks and cat5 patch cords.

Features include: The ability to transmit a status report of all zones, Default run timers for each zone to prevent runaway irrigation if serial link is interrupted or computer goes down.

The Internet based software that is supplied with the Rain8net provides for 5 different irrigation programs. Each program may control all 2000 zones if necessary. Timer settings range from 15 seconds (misting applications) to 3 hours per zone.

The low cost of $18 per zone makes this system of interest to all irrigation applications; turf, residential, agricultural or commercial.
