Special Kids Speech & Skill Development Video Modeling Therapies Introduces New, Improved Website

Pre-Schoolers to Teens in 30-Plus Countries and 500-Plus U.S. School Systems With Developmental, Cognitive and Learning Disabilities Will Benefit

(PRWEB) July 30, 2004 -- Special Kids Speech & Skill Development Resources, creator of the worlds original video modeling programs specifically for pre-schoolers to teens with developmental, cognitive and learning disabilities, announces the launch of a new website at www.special-kids.com.

According to John Sprecher, founder of Special Kids, the new website offers our many clients around the world — boys and girls with developmental disabilities, their parents and loved ones, therapists, teachers, caregivers, health care providers, libraries, schools and more — access to many exciting new products, services, research, experience sharing and information about educating pre-schoolers, children and teens with autism spectrum disorder, Down Syndrome, cerebral palsy, hyperlexia and other learning challenges."

The new website features the following exciting, effective new products and services:
• Special Kids Speech & Skill Development Video Modeling Programs" (dvd format). Previously available only in vhs format, a total of 10 effective Special Kids programs are now available in dvd. A recent Exceptional Parent magazine review called the programs outstanding at teaching what to expect and how to behave, plus relevant language skills such as labeling, writing, reading and sequencing." The reviewers concluded that Special Kids Programs are fun and entertaining — great for all kids!"

• Video Modeling Research. A new section presents a wide variety of clinical research that demonstrates the effectiveness of video modeling, as pioneered by Special Kids, in teaching pre-schoolers to teens with learning disabilities.

• Look-‘N-Learn Interactive Flashcards". New highly visual computer software programming that serves as both interactive and printable flashcards.

• Step-by-Step Behavior Models". New illustrated, laminated sequencing cards that can help special learners acquire positive social skills in their environment.

• Positive Message Lesson Stories". Everything from picture books (autographed on request) to downloadable stories, by Special Kids founder and award-winning writer John Sprecher.

• Ruby C. Williams Signature Series Funwear". Acclaimed southern folk artist Ruby C. Williams puts her colorful artistic impressions to Special Kids positive messages for children and parents.

• Parent Praise. A chance for others to read about the positive experiences they and their children with disabilities have had, learning from Special Kids.

Founded in 1993, the development of Special Kids was based on the success that Sprechers son demonstrated in acquiring speech, self-help and social skills through personal videos Sprecher made for his son. As other children with developmental disabilities in the local community also acquired skills by watching these home programs," Sprecher was encouraged to tell his story. Following an article in an Autism Society of America publication, Sprecher received more than 300 letters from around the world from excited parents, therapists and teachers — all encouraging him to produce a series of video modeling programs for their highly visual" children with disabilities. Encouraged by this response, Special Kids Speech & Skill Development Video Modeling Programs was launched, and is now helping children and teens in more than 30 countries (1/6th of the world!) and 500 U.S. school systems. Confirming Sprechers hunch, university and hospital studies have subsequently concluded that video modeling can be a highly effective strategy for teaching children and teens with disabilities speech, writing, reading, social, self-help, play and other skills.

Special Kids Speech & Skill Development Resources also offers review samples available by request. For more information, visit www.special-kids.com, e-mail info@special-kids.com or call 1-800-KIDS-153.
