San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) July 30, 2004 -- Michael Moore has joined a chorus of other progressive-minded leaders in praising "The Future of Peace: On the Front Lines with the Worlds Greatest Peacemakers," by Scott A. Hunt (HarperSanFrancisco; pp. 384; $13.95). Moore called the book a beautiful publication" that is interesting and intriguing."
Mahatma Gandhi would have welcomed this book," declares Gandhis granddaughter and notable South African parliamentarian, Ela Gandhi. The San Jose Mercury News called Future of Peace a mind-expanding and soul-stirring book." Book Magazine held it to be one of the books most effective in making honest attempts to comfort, explain, or make meaning of what at first seemed unfathomable" -- the events of 9/11. That statement takes on additional significance in the wake of the 9/11 Commission report, as the nation seeks to find ways to improve its long-term security.
The work has also been applauded by such people as Bill Clinton, Ralph Nader, Ed Asner, Shirley MacLaine, Jane Goodall, and Casey Kasem; and has been recommended by Canadas largest news organization, the Dalai Lama Foundation, and prominent peace organizations. The Dalai Lama said, This is a very important book."
The book, which will be released in paperback on August 10, 2004, was written by San Francisco-based peace scholar and Buddhist teacher Scott A. Hunt. Hunts story is inspiring. He quit the dot-com industry after negotiating a successful business venture and decided to use all his money to do something good for the world.
He courageously traveled to some of the worlds most troubled and dangerous war zones to discover the causes of violence and the potential to resolve the conflicts plaguing modern societies. Recounting histories that are not taught in schools and uncovering vital lessons for the future, Hunts book shares his conversations with Burma's legendary pro-democracy leader Aung San Suu Kyi, Tibet's moral authority the Dalai Lama, Vietnam's leading dissident Thich Quang Do, famed primate specialist and humanitarian Dr. Jane Goodall, Cambodia's Supreme Patriarch Maha Ghosananda, Costa Rica's Nobel Peace Laureate Oscar Arias, and other famed leaders who battle to end the brutality against people and the causes they cherish.
Hunts chapter on Israel and Palestine is controversial. He spoke with Hanan Ashrawi in the West Bank, and two leading opposition figures in Israel, the colorful former cabinet minister Ms. Shulamit Aloni, an atheist, and the first Israeli official to meet with Yassir Arafat, Uri Avnery. Hunt concludes in this chapter that Israel has an absolute right to security, but security will never be achieved as long as the Palestinian people are prevented from forming a viable nation.
Hunt has been a personable, intelligent, and well-spoken guest on many radio programs and a camera-friendly, engaging guest on several television shows. He can be contacted for interviews, directly or through his agent.
