Carla's Big Swim for Kids' Sake
(PRWEB) July 31, 2004 -- During early August of 2004, Carla Eichinger of Oshkosh, Wisconsin will swim across Lake Winnebago, the country's second largest inland freshwater lake, raising funds that will allow area children free swimming lessons at the Oshkosh YMCA.
This past December, Carla graduated from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh with a degree in Psychology. She has several years of competitive swim team experience. A swimming instructor since 1998, she currently teaches private lessons at the Oshkosh YMCA and the Oshkosh Country Club. Carla is Water Safety Instructor Certified.
The swim will cover just under 10 miles, from the swimming beach at Menominee Park to Quinney Road in Calumet County. To prepare for Lake Winnebago, Carla has trained 6,000 to 18,000 yards most days since mid-May and recently completed a swim across Lake Butte des Morts.
Carla and Big Brothers Big Sisters feel that swimming is an important life skill that every child deserves an opportunity to learn. Funds raised through the Big Swim" will enable local children currently in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program to take swimming lessons at the Oshkosh YMCA. One session consists of six 45-minute classes for a fee of $26.00 for YMCA members and $48.00 for program members.
