Manasquan, New Jersey (PRWEB) August 1, 2004 -
ItÂs been one year since two college buddies created the emerging music portal, DiscoveringArtists.com. To commemorate the websiteÂs success, the pair has partnered with Octone Records this month to host a Michael Tolcher merchandise giveaway.
To celebrate a year filled with live show travels and booming industry connections, an exclusive interview with Tolcher will be posted on the website. Contest participants will be asked to write a 200-300 word review of TolcherÂs CD ÂI AmÂ. The grand prize winner will receive a signed CD, T-shirt and wristband. Three runner-up contestants will receive a signed Tolcher poster. DiscoveringArtists.com will judge all entries, which are due by August 31, 2004.
Tolcher released his debut album, ÂI Am (produced by PopRox) in May 2004. Recorded by Chris Shaw (Bob Dylan, Weezer, Dashboard Confessional) and mixed by Tim Palmer (U2, Pearl Jam, The Cure) and Mark Endert (Fiona Apple, Madonna), the album boasts an impressive mix of alternative rock and R&B sounds.
ÂIÂm excited to present our website visitors merchandise from an artist we love, said Pasculli. ÂWorking with Tolcher and our friends at Octone is the icing on the cake.Â
Kristen Pasculli and Dan Galimidi, both 26-years-old and from New Jersey, met in college and devised the plan for the website during Fall 2002. Because their skills complimented each other, launching the site was easy-- and building a reputable name in the music industry was enjoyable.
Pasculli uses her journalism background to provide interviews, reviews and features for the website. During the past year, she has taken a strong interest in the music industry business, and is the promotion manager for BostonÂs electrified folk rocker, Cara Aley. She was also able to successfully expanded her freelance writing clientele by opening up her services to artists of all musical genres.
ÂThe past year has taught me so much about the business, and IÂve enjoyed making down-to-earth contacts. IÂm hoping to work with more artists in the future to promote their work, she said. ÂSeeing musicians weÂve featured get more exposure has been the most gratifying aspect of it all.Â
Galimidi, a graphic artist, created and developed the website design planning it with an easily navigable layout in mind. Galimidi contributes original photography of the live shows he and Pasculli attend. This year, he photographed more than 35 live shows in the Northeast. He also expanded the websiteÂs contest program by contacting artists and labels to offer merchandise for free giveaways. Galimidi successfully conducted more than five contests during the year, and he plans to increase the program in the near future.
ÂOur contests include autographed CD's, concert tickets, and other merchandise from our featured artists. It helps promote the artists, as well as bringing return visitors to our site, he said.
Pasculli and Galimidi worked extensively during the year to promote the Decent Xposure compilation CDs put forth by Ben Hordell and Cari Gelber of Everfine Records. They continue to promote the Decent Xposure collection, which features the DiscoveringArtists.com logo on the covers.
