American childrenÂs icon, DR. SEUSS is being introduced to Chinese children through three popular interactive CD-ROM titles that teach the English language, a priority for the Chinese Government.
In America, "The Cat in the Hat" enjoys over 87% total awareness amongst kids and parents, it is the 3rd most highly recognized children's book character, and 1 in 4 children born in the U.S. receives Dr. Seuss as their first book.
Two of the three interactive programs being launched in China, Cat in the Hat, and Green Eggs & Ham are derived from Dr. Seuss titles that are among the Top Ten best-selling children's books of all time in the United States.
ÂTheodor Geisel originally created The Cat in the Hat and other outlandish Dr. Seuss characters to improve the vocabulary of American children after WW IIÂ, said Sander Johnson, president of AMERICAN TELEVISION in CHINA, Inc. (ATC) who has signed exclusive China licensing rights for the educational multimedia titles, Âand now we are introducing Dr. Seuss in the popular interactive CD format to teach the children of China in the 21st CenturyÂ.
The Chinese partners that are launching the interactive titles and workbooks with ATC have demonstrated successful localization of multimedia materials by publishing and distributing The Discovery ChannelÂs 52 VCDÂs, 34 books and 34 interactive CD-ROM, all of which endorsed by ChinaÂs Ministry of Education . ÂWe have a unique ability to modify our multimedia to align with the new Chinese Educational Syllabus, added Johnson,  and thus can significantly contribute to educating the children of China both at home and in schoolÂ.
ÂWe are pleased to be offering a complete program of cross-promotion involving publication, the Internet, teacher training, and official endorsements to support the success of interactive Dr. Seuss in ChinaÂ, said Michael Polin, Esq. CEO and co-founder of ATC. ÂThis will be particularly helpful when integrated with multiple distribution channels for the school and retail marketsÂ.
ATC will showcase Dr. Seuss products and activities for the Chinese government and media, at the International Forum on the Chinese Cultural Industry being held in Shanxi, China, September 12-15. This yearÂs main themes and topics are animation and childrenÂs education and Dr. Seuss is being highlighted as a model of international cooperation in this field.
Within a few years, ATC believes the sales revenues of Dr. Seuss products in China could potentially dwarf those of the U.S., due to the sheer size of the market.
Polin concluded, ÂDr. Seuss has delighted and inspired generations of Americans with innovative early-learning English language education. Now with the increasing demand of Chinese parents and teachers for better products and materials for teaching the English language, Chinese children will have a chance to experience the joy of learning with Dr. Seuss. We are happy to introduce this unique and whimsical world of language and art to Chinese cultureÂ.
