Vibren Technologies Acquires Accelent Systems Embedded Group - Acquisition Creates Premier Embedded Engineering Company

Combination of Vibren and Accelent positions united firm as provider of most comprehensive embedded engineering products and services.

Boxborough, MA (PRWEB) August 16, 2004 -- Vibren Technologies announced today the acquisition of Accelent Systems, a leading provider of embedded development products and services. Through this acquisition, Vibren obtains key embedded technology and expertise for rapidly developing Microsoft Windows CE .NET and Windows Mobile for PocketPC/Smart Phone devices.

Under terms of the agreement, Vibren will acquire the assets of Accelent Systems including Schema, a tool for porting Microsoft Windows CE .NET to ARM-based embedded devices and Integrated Development Platform (IDP), an XScale-based reference platform for Windows and Linux embedded designs. Vibren will retain Accelents engineering team in the Akron, Ohio facility.

The combination of Vibrens existing embedded team and the Accelent team provides Vibren with a stronger core offering and an enhanced ability to service a wider range of projects," said Bob Byrnes, president and chief operating officer. Our expertise in Windows CE .NET and the MIPS platform combined with Accelents expertise in the Pocket PC/Smart Phone and ARM platform makes us the premier embedded engineering company."

Both Vibren and Accelent Systems are Microsoft gold-level Windows Embedded Partners. As a result of the acquisition, Vibren has become a Microsoft Windows Mobile MPAC member, Intel PCA Developer Network Charter member and a member of the Texas Instruments OMAP Technology Center.

Vibrens embedded offerings now include unparalleled expertise in all Windows CE processors, including MIPS, SH4, Transmeta, x86 and XScale, and leading industry experience in Windows CE mobility platforms including Windows Mobile for Pocket PCs and Smart Phones. Vibrens product business has been enhanced with the addition of Schema, a development tool for ARM-based Windows CE designs, and the Integrated Development Platform (IDP), an XScale PXA255-based reference platform for Windows CE and Linux.

When building Windows Powered solutions, our customers need to be able to take advantage of third-party offerings they know they can trust," said Jane Gilson, group product manager, Embedded Devices Group at Microsoft. As a gold-level Windows Embedded Partner, Vibren offers high-quality solutions and services that our joint customers can take advantage of when building next-generation devices."
