Cruise to Antarctica Offers Adventure and Talks by Photographer Norbert Wu

Undersea photographer and explorer Norbert Wu, who spent three seasons documenting the underwater world of Antarctica, will be offering entertaining talks aboard the Clipper Adventurer on its December 2005 expedition to Antarctica.

(PRWEB) August 19, 2004 -- Undersea photographer and explorer Norbert Wu, who spent three seasons documenting the underwater world of Antarctica, will be offering entertaining talks aboard the Clipper Adventurer on its December 2005 expedition to Antarctica. Trip dates are December 17, 2005 to January 7, 2006. Stops include South Georgia, the Falkland Islands, and the Antarctic Peninsula. Rates start at $8,370 and passengers who book through NorbertWu.com receive a $1000 discount off published rates.

Antarctica is surprising. It is full of life, vibrant colors and stunning scenery," commented Norbert Wu, Though we wont be diving on this trip, passengers will get a close look at the stunning sea life of the area through the images and experiences I was able to capture."

Wu, whose chilling scuba diving experiences and images of the area will be published this fall in his book Under Antarctic Ice, will be offering passengers insight into this surprisingly vibrant undersea world through presentations aboard the Clipper Adventurer. Passengers will dive into the ice cold waters of the Antarctic through slide presentations and High-Definition movies created by Norbert Wu as part of the work he did while working on the book and a PBS Nature film three National Science Foundation Artists and Writers grants.

Our passengers will actually be able to step foot onto the Antarctic Peninsula, which is not something they can typically do on larger ships that mainly sail near the coast and do not stop," commented Ric McCune, Vice President of Clipper Cruise Line, Its unique expeditionary voyages like the one we have in Antarctica featuring incredible guest speakers like Norbert Wu that Clipper Adventurer was rated by Condé Nast Traveler as having the best activities of any ship in the world."

In addition to the 17-day cruise, guests enjoy one night at the Buenos Aires Sheraton Hotel, one night at the Sheraton Santiago Hotel, charter air transportation within South America, all meals aboard the ship, all sightseeing and shore excursions, several special events, a personal expedition parka, and the personalized service of Clipper's hospitality staff and onboard experts. The 122-passenger Clipper Adventurer, rated as one of "The Best Cruise Ships in the World" by Condé Nast Traveler, features an enclosed promenade deck, large forward observation platform and window-lined cabins. Added comforts include the cozy Clipper Club, a library, a small gym, gift shop, and beauty salon. Each of the ships 61 all-outside cabins offers private bathrooms, lower beds, and individual temperature controls. Clipper Cruise Line provides educationally enriching, destination-oriented travel experiences aboard small ships and on thoughtfully designed, escorted land programs.

Norbert Wu is the author and photographer of fifteen books on wildlife and photography. Exhibits of his work have been shown at the American Museum of Natural History, the California Academy of Sciences, the National Academy of Sciences, and the National Museum of Wildlife Art. In addition to being named "Outstanding Photographer of the Year" by the North American Nature Photographers Association, Wu was awarded the Antarctica Service Medal of the United States of America in 2000 "for his contributions to exploration and science in the U.S. Antarctic Program."
