(MobilityNewswire/PRWEB ) August 23, 2004 -- Smart Computing Magazine, a monthly magazine geared toward educating computer users about new technologies and helping them become more productive with PCs, published reviews of FinePrint Softwares FinePrint 5 and pdfFactory software applications for Windows PCs in the August 2004 and September 2004 issues, respectively. In both reviews, the products were found to be very useful and practical solutions for producing both printed and electronic output.

The August review of pdfFactory describes the need for a cost-effective software that enables users to create PDFs.

"PDF is a technology that enables content developers to publish their documents in a universally accepted electronic format without compromising graphics, fonts, layout, and other design elements. Because of PDF, users on any platform and with no other software than a free copy of Adobe Reader can access content - including rebate forms, user manuals, event entries, newsletters, and business reports - that virtually anyone could create; or at least, anyone who could afford to create it. Until recently, users had only one option for creating PDF files: Adobe Acrobat."

Many people and businesses cant afford to purchase copies of Adobe Acrobat, which retails for $299. Several companies stepped up to offer lower-cost alternatives and, according to Smart Computing Magazine, "FinePrints pdfFactory is arguably the best."

"What (FinePrint) does (and does well) is convert content from one or more apps into a compact, searchable PDF file you can share with anyone who has Adobe Reader. Small businesses and self-employed individuals will benefit from the opportunity to create low-cost PDF files for Web and email distribution."

In the September review of FinePrint 5, the reviewer made a case for the costs associated with printing, including paper and ink or toner cartridge replacements. The solution they discovered is FinePrint, which aims to reduce the costs associated with printer ownership.

"FinePrint 5.25 helps you conserve paper, ink or toner, time, and money by providing an assortment of efficient printing functions. The keystone function of FinePrint is its ability to print two, four, eight, or more pages of content on an 8.5 x 11 inch sheet of paper by dividing the sheet into halves, quarters, eighths, or more equal parts."

"Beyond its ability to print multiple pages to a single sheet of paper, FinePrint helps you save on printing costs in other ways. For example, it gives you the option of removing ink-wasting graphics and unwanted pages from the documents you choose to print. It also lets you convert colored text to black so that you can save your costly color inks for the times you need them most. As if that wasnt enough, FinePrint also supports double-sided printing on any printer... FinePrint makes printing easier, faster, and better."
