Weight Loss Using Russian Kettlebells & a Common Sense Diet?

Does a fitness tool used for 300 years qualify as a fad? Is Russian kettlebell training combined with a common sense approach to diet the way to lose fat, build muscle, strength, and flexibility?

(PRWEB) August 23, 2004 -- Not many people know what a kettlebell is, much less how to use one, but training with a kettlebell is an effective route to fat loss while building strength. Suprisingly, something else many people are unfamiliar with, is what exactly a healthy diet consists of. Combining kettlebell training with the basic rules of how to eat healthy is a key to losing fat and getting back the strength to do the physical activities we enjoy.

"I am amazed at the lack of even the most basic knowledge among many people concerning what to eat in order to lose weight or be fit," states Victor Holtreman, author of the eBook "The Last 10 Pounds". "People will complain to me how they can't seem to lose weight, and then reach for a 12 oz can of Coke," added Victor, who using the methods outlined in his book dropped his body fat from 13% to 9% in just two months.

The vast majority of Americans who are overweight would like to lose fat, but don't seem to know quite how to do it. Victor emphasizes that "just making a few minor changes to how and what you eat can make a dramatic impact on your weight." Of course the other component is exercise... another area where many people seem to have confusion.

"People expect immediate and miraculous results within days of starting an exercise program. They get discouraged, or even worse, injure themselves and quit," says Victor.

In his eBook "The Last 10 Pounds" Victor teaches readers how to find their caloric "sweet spot": the amount of food to eat that will allow fat loss without losing muscle. Instead of just telling the reader *what* to eat, he teaches how to determine what is and what is not healthy. In essence instead of giving you a fish, he teaches you how to fish on your own. He also introduces a variety of workouts that will raise metabolism, increase strength and muscle density.

So what exactly "is" a kettlebell? It is basically an iron sphere with a handle, which can be used in a wide variety of exercises: These range from slow, strength building movements to fast, heart pumping aerobic exercises. They are available in a wide variety of weights, starting with a very light 9 lbs (for women) all the way up to a monstrous 88 lb model. Most women start with an 18 lb kettlebell while most men opt for the 36 lb model. The unique design has a center of gravity that is away from your hand, which gives the movements a unique feel and causes you to recruit more muscles in any particular exercise.

"The Last 10 Pounds" gives detailed instructions on a variety of movements along with photos demonstrating how they are done. Also included are many resources including where to find additional exercises, and tools for tracking fat loss. Using himself as a guinea pig, Victor lost 10 pounds of fat in 2 months. He states "I could have lost it faster, but the book was a record of what I did as I did it. Any mistakes I made are there so you can learn from them as well."
