SUPPORT OUR TROOPS - A Question of Commitment
Support our Troops is a call to arms; it is not a mere slogan. Grantham University is stepping up to support Americas troops in a very real way by initiating an aggressive recruiting campaign aimed at supporting troops who were denied their previous jobs upon returning home from the war on terror.
Slidell, LA (PRWEB) August 27, 2004 -- Grantham University, one of Americas leading online universities, announced a new hiring program aimed at giving returning troops employment and career opportunities.
We need good people, and there are none better than our men and women in uniform,” says Grantham University Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Tom Macon.
Mr. Macon said the University is responding to recent media reports that cited increasing numbers of National Guard and Reserve troops who are returning from Iraq and Afghanistan are encountering new battles with their civilian employers at home. These troops are finding that jobs they thought secure were eliminated, benefits reduced, and promotions forgotten.
I dont understand a company that would deny jobs to the very people who are serving to protect their business,” Mr. Macon says. These men and women are prepared to pay the ultimate price to prevent the ‘stench of terrorism from again rising out of the Middle East. As my family and I rest comfortably at home each night, I can't help but feel an overwhelming sense of thanks to the hundreds of thousands of brave Americans in uniform who are making it possible for all us to be truly safe here at home. There is something inherently wrong when business turns its back on the very people America counts on for protection.”
Mr. Macon said that Grantham University is currently undergoing tremendous growth and was adamant that the schools expansion will include supporting the military by providing employment opportunities to displaced or unemployed people with military backgrounds. He said the school has already begun to act on its promise with the recent addition of six admission advisors—all of who are current National Guard, reservists, veterans, or military retirees. He noted that one-third of the Granthams current staff have military backgrounds.
Grantham University has been serving the military marketplace for over 50 years and currently offers a Military Scholarship program that allows active duty military service members to earn a college degree with zero out-of-pocket expenses. The scholarship covers the costs of tuition not paid by the Department of Defense and includes the costs of textbooks, software, study guides, and the shipping of materials worldwide.
The University offers associate and bachelor degree programs in Business Administration, Criminal Justice, Computer Science and Electronic Engineering. The school also offers and MBA and Master of Science graduate programs. Grantham University currently has an enrollment of some five thousand military and civilian students from around the world.
