MotorCitySports.net Gives Sports Section Readers in Michigan Another Option.

Nine writers are working to give Detroit sports fans an alternative, bringing sports opinion writing with style and humor.

(PRWEB) August 6, 2004 -- Launched in January of 2004, www.MotorCitySports.net has spent the last seven months bringing opinionated and humorous writing to sports fans in Detroit and across the state of Michigan.

Attempting to give readers an alternative to the often recycled writing of paid media members, MCS writes from a fan's point of view. Proudly run "by Motor City sports fans, for Motor City sports fans", the writers intend to entertain as much as inform.

"We're just a bunch of sports fans with an opinion", said MCS co-owner Jon Combs. "We feel we can give the readers the same information as their local paper, but we can inject personality and humor into the writing - something that the average sports columnist doesn't do."

The columns at MCS cover the current happenings of the Pistons, Red Wings, Lions and Tigers, as well as Michigan and Michigan State.

The writers' backgrounds vary, ranging from lawyer to security guard to graphic designer, so with each writer comes a unique point of view. Some of the writers work at MCS strictly as a hobby, others hope to use the site as a platform to launch into a writing career in the future.

Word of mouth has brought nearly 20,000 visitors per month to MCS, and the site plans a minor promotional campaign in the near future.

MCS has recently launched www.FanZoneCentral.com, a new sports talk message board where fans can discuss other sites like MCS, as well as the latest sports information from across the country.
