(PRWEB) September 7, 2004 -- In their newest venture, restaurateurs Nick Tsakonas, John Mavrikis and Tommy Urena have given a new twist to diners with their latest concept, Pop Diner located at 80-26 Queens Boulevard, Elmhurst, NY. This unique restaurant will be celebrating its grand opening in August.
Pop Diner reinvigorates the diner concept, providing patrons with a casual atmosphere that includes a magnificent 70s Warhol theme, great art and an out-of-this world, more sophisticated global-inspired menu. Its innovative owners are not new to running this type of successful restaurant business. Tsakonas and Mavrikis currently own Jonathans in Garden City Park which has been in business for 12 years and Tsakonas, Mavrikis and Urena own Lindenwood Diner in Brooklyn which has been in business for over 34 years. Together they have applied their over 34 years of expertise and experience to this new project creating a restaurant that already is receiving incredible reviews from customers.
Chef Kishore Mondal, who has been featured on the Food Technology Channel, and has formally trained in Hong Kong, New Orleans and India, has created a multi-ethnic menu comprised of Latin, Oriental and Caribbean delicacies along with traditional American favorites. His specialty is mixing different ethnic tastes to create some of the most unique dishes around. Featured items include Chino-American Grilled Salmon (marinated & topped with candid ginger, citrus segments & crispy fried noodles served with stir-fried vegetables) and Bourbon Glaze Broiled Pork Chop.
We have raised the bar on the ‘diner concept and want to provide our patrons with a totally different and more innovative experience than they might be accustomed to with stereotypical diners," said Nick Tsakonas, co-owner of Pop. Each day Kishore will have 10 different specials for lunch and dinner. Our goal is to give all our dishes a multi-ethnic flair."
In addition, baker Paransasi Bobby" Igustibagus creates cakes and breads daily on the premises and can customize items according to customer specifications.
Pop Diner is located at 80-26 Queens Blvd in Elmhurst, 718-426-2229. The General Manager is Angel Almonte. Hours of operation are: Sunday through Thursday: 6 a.m. to 1 a.m.; Fridays and Saturdays: 24 hours.
