PDFTextStream v1.2 Released

This new release adds to PDFTextStream's extraction credentials the ability to extract Adobe XMP (Extensible Metadata Platform) formatted metadata streams.

[http://www.snowtide.com today announced that PDFTextStream, its high-performance PDF text and metadata extraction library for Java applications and web services has been updated to version 1.2. This new release adds to PDFTextStream's extraction credentials the ability to extract Adobe XMP (Extensible Metadata Platform) formatted metadata streams.

Adobe XMP metadata streams are important in specialized PDF document workflows such as are routinely seen in the pre-press and document management industries. Now that PDFTextStream provides easy access to XMP metadata streams in addition to its existing top-flight text extraction facilities, it can more readily service Java-centric application developers and service providers in these industries.

PDFTextStream supports all versions of the PDF document specification, including reading 40- and 128-bit encrypted PDF files. It provides seamless access to the text and metadata held in PDF files to Java applications and web services. It also includes a module that provides drop-in integration with the popular Jakarta Lucene full-text indexing and search component. Given PDFTextStream's significant performance advantages compared to other PDF libraries available for the Java platform, it is especially well-suited for high-volume enterprise environments.

Availability and Pricing
Version 1.2 of PDFTextStream is available immediately. PDFTextStream is a pure Java library, and is therefore compatible with any computing platform for which a v1.3 or higher Java Runtime Environment is available (including Linux, many Unix variants, Windows 2000/XP, and Mac OS X). Licenses start at $1900 for a 1-CPU development/deployment license. Evaluation downloads are available at Snowtide.com.
