Lake Forest, CA (PRWEB) September 23, 2004 -- Preeminent workplace violence expert, W. Barry Nixon, SPHR, Executive Director, National Institute for the Prevention of Workplace Violence, Inc., will present a workshop discussing Benchmarking Pre-Employment Screening Practices: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, at the ASIS 50TH Annual Seminar and Exhibits, Monday, September 27, 2004, 5:30p.m. in room 155 at the Dallas Convention Center, Dallas, Texas.

The session, sponsored by the Crime/Loss Prevention Council, will focus on how the advent of negligent hiring and multi-million dollar paydays for victims families has made pre-employment screening become vogue. This new industry literally sprung up over night with hundreds of companies and few guidelines that define a quality provider. All companies claim to provide timely, accurate and legal information, but the fact remains that aside from adhering to the Federal Credit Reporting Act, this industry remains relatively unregulated.

Using standard business benchmarking practices, the session will explore the spectrum and quality of services these companies provide. It promises to be a thought provoking seminar and attendees should be prepared to answer the question, Do you know how your pre-employment company rates?"

A full review of workplace violence issues can be found at www.workplaceviolence911.com and the most comprehensive source for information on preemployment background screening firms on the Internet at www.PreemploymentDirctory.com or by contacting W. Barry Nixon at 949-770-5264 or wbnixon@aol.com.

As a leader in the area of occupational violence prevention, the National Institute for the Prevention of Workplace Violence specializes in helping organizations to create violence free work environments and to have emergency response plans in place. The Institute focuses on preventative efforts and prepares clients to respond appropriately should an incident of violence occur.

Mr. Nixon provides Workplace Violence consulting for public and private organizations. A partial client list includes Gillette, Canon, Beckman Coulter, State of California, Macys and Southern California Edison.
