New Year, New Choices - Substance Abusers Get Chance to Start Anew in 2005
For people trying to quit abusing drugs or alcohol, 2005 could be their year. Recovery Options for Addictive Disorders (ROADS), along with its partner agencies, is increasing access to substance abuse treatment for those who want to give up substance abuse and start anew this year.
Fort Worth, TX (PRWEB) January 2, 2005 -- For people trying to quit abusing drugs or alcohol, 2005 could be their year. Recovery Options for Addictive Disorders (ROADS), along with its partner agencies, is increasing access to substance abuse treatment for those who want to give up substance abuse and start anew this year.
ROADS, a not-for-profit group organization dedicated to providing best practices in substance abuse treatment for Tarrant County, is offering vouchers for outpatient treatment to Tarrant County residents with substance abuse problems who are not eligible for services funded through state and federal programs, such as Medicaid. Funding for this project was obtained through the assistance of Congresswoman Kay Granger.
ROADS Board Chair Sharen Wilson said this program was designed to reach out to those who have a substance abuse problem and want to get help but may not be able to otherwise afford substance abuse services.
Eligible participants must be seeking treatment on a voluntary basis and must lack insurance coverage for substance abuse treatment. Participants must have also received an assessment to determine whether they need outpatient treatment. Residents who have been court ordered to receive treatment are not currently eligible for vouchers.
We hope the vouchers will give those seeking help with substance abuse problems the opportunity to make some important life changes in the new year," said Wilson.
Tarrant Council on Alcoholism & Drug Abuse, a partner agency, can provide free substance abuse assessments for those who have not already completed an assessment and think they may have a substance abuse problem. Tarrant Council can also provide a host of other services to those struggling with substance abuse issues and their families.
