Mecklenburg County Democratic Leadership Institute Opens

The Mecklenburg County Democratic Party with headquarters in Charlotte, NC is proud to annouce the creation of its leadership training institute.

Charlotte, NC (PRWEB) January 2, 2005 -- The Mecklenburg County Democratic Party announces the opening of its Democratic Leadership Institute (DLI). Beginning in January 2005, the MCDP will hold its inaugural four-month session.

The mission of the Institute is to build a grassroots foundation for continuing Democratic success. MCDP Chair Michael D. Evans says that the DLI provides a great opportunity for us to train and educate all the participants in the political process. We will create a knowledgeable and motivated core leadership team." Through the Institute, the local party will identify, recruit, train, support and encourage future Democratic leaders in party politics. We will build on the current momentum in Mecklenburg County, while increasing the number and effectiveness of Democratic leaders," notes Evans.

Upon completion of this program, participants will understand the structure, roles and resources of the Democratic Party; the electoral process; the key components of successful campaigns; effective use of media and communications; and the structure, roles and resources of ancillary organizations.

The Institute will consist of eight classes over a four-month period (two classes per month), beginning Jan. 18. Instructors will include elected officials, party officials and distinguished members of the community. Participants will experience a diverse curriculum that includes introductions to our local government bodies, the state and local party, and campaigning.
