Silicon Valley, CA (PRWEB) January 5, 2005
The Brand Name Awards for 2004, known affectionately as The Brandies, invites all interested parties to nominate names for a Name Award for 2004 by visiting http://www.BrandNameAwards.com. Anyone can enter a name online, and have a chance to win their own copy of the award trophy  a beautiful brandy snifter glass engraved with a branding iron.
For this inaugural event, names will be judged in the categories of Best New Business Name, Best New Product Name, Best Name Change and Best Sole Proprietorship. Only names that came to prominence in 2004 are eligible for submission. The winning names will be selected by an eminent panel of judges representing naming agencies, branding agencies, marketing professionals, academia, promo companies, sponsors and all the related media sources. Separate awards will be given in each category for different industries so that a name in business, say, does not have to compete against a consumer name in pharmaceuticals or some other unrelated arena.
ÂNames have the capacity to inspire, to motivate, to focus efforts and to describe brands, products and companies, said Athol Foden, chair of The Brand Name Awards. ÂNames are not brands, but rather the title of the complete brand promise. They can have a huge emotional impact on the marketing image as well as that of the management team, employees and buying public. Yet only for a few people are they a continual and powerful source of fascination, inspiration and despair. As a result, there have never been any national awards for names, even though there are many other creative, advertising and graphics awards such as the Clio, Effies, The Webbies and Beacon Awards.Â
Anyone can nominate a name as an entry for a Brand Name Award by visiting the website http://www.brandnameawards.com, but any individual may only nominate a given name once. This awards site also serves as a repository for naming stories, links to naming articles and resources for people trying to understand and create more great names and trademarks.
Each winning company will be awarded a ÂBrandy  an engraved brandy snifter designed by Jeff Nielson of Nielson Design. He may be reached at 408-741-5333 or http://www.nielsondesign.com.
