Palo Duro Records Signs Texas Fave Two Tons of Steel

Band recording new album with producer Lloyd Maines

Austin, TX (PRWEB) January 6, 2005 -- Palo Duro Records announces its signing of Texas roots-rockabilly icons Two Tons of Steel. Already the top-drawing act at Texas' historical Gruene Hall and a regular at Nashville's Grand Ole Opry (on the Opryland mainstage and in the outdoor summer concert series), Two Tons of Steel will enter the studio this month with famed Austin producer Lloyd Maines to to record its Palo Duro debut, slated for release in early 2005.

Two Tons of Steel -- lead vocalist/acoustic guitarist Kevin Geil, electric guitarist/backing vocalist Dennis Fallon, upright bass/backing vocalist Ric Ramirez, steel player Denny Mathis and drummer/percussionist Chris Dodds -- is known to radio listeners throughout the country. The band's namesake song was used in a yearlong national ad campaign for Shiner Bock, Texas' most popular brew.

Now Two Tons Steel is set to boost its renown even further. In addition to the planned studio album, the now-legendary Two Ton Tuesdays at Gruene Hall will be recorded for a live CD and DVD, all three to be released on the Palo Duro label.

In other news from Palo Duro Records, its all-acoustic "Texas Unplugged, Vol. 1," featuring Ed Burleson, TC Taylor, Mike McClure, Becca Dalrymple, Houston Marchman, Larry Joe Taylor, Terri Hendrix, Eleven Hundred Springs and other Texas artists, was released nationwide October 24, 2004. Media review copies are available upon request.
